FlexElement Couplings API 671 Configurations:
Interlocking flanges provide overload protection to guard against turbine runaway. Coupling is no longer"the weak link." Overhung moment is nimized by moving the CG inboard toward support beraing. Typically used on high speed, lightweight turbines, compressors, and expanders.
RM Style:
The most commonly used configuration for reduced moment
couplings. Replicates the mass-elastic characteristics of high
speed gear couplings often with equal or smaller major diameter. Ideal choice proven on all types of turbomachinery since 1980.
RZ Style:
Machine style coupling features drop-in spacer assembly. Easy installation and removal, elements visible for routine inspection. Hydraulic tappings and oil-access grooves in hub bore facilitate safe and speedy removal of keyed tapered or straight bored hubs. Ideal choice for heavier, less sensitive rotors such as pumps, generators, etc.
MS Style:
The FlexElement Difference:
• Uses proven design criteria with specialized manufacturing and assembly/balance procedures. Total failures=ZERO on critical turbomachinery applications since 1980.
• Has no relatively moving parts, therefore no wearing parts. All metal construction requires no lubrication and no maintenance - useful life approaches infinity.
• Have angular and axial reaction forces 10 - 50 times less than comparable gear couplings. Bearing loads are reduced, rotor stability improved.
• Is 100% designed and manufactured in the USA. Raw materials are U.S. made, all fasteneres are purchased to U.S. Military or Aerospace Standards.
• Normally has the smallest major diameter of any available dry coupling. Retrofits can be completed without expensive guard modifications and, in most cases, without the need for in-depth rotor analysis.
• Pumps
